Boeing, Ryanair Announce Order for Three Additional Next-Generation 737-800s

Irish low-cost carrier now has 274 unfilled orders for 737s

DUBLIN, March 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Ryanair have announced an order for three Next-Generation 737-800s. The order, previously unidentified on the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website, is valued at $280 million at current list prices. With this order the Irish low-cost carrier now has unfilled orders for 174 Next-Generation 737-800s and 100 737 MAX 200s.
"We are pleased to announce the purchase of three more Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft, which will be delivered in early 2016, bringing our total recent orders to 183 737-800s, in addition to further orders for up to 200 'gamechanger' Boeing 737 MAX 200 aircraft," said Michael O'Leary, CEO of Ryanair. "These Boeing aircraft orders will allow us to expand our fleet to over 520 aircraft and to increase our traffic to 160 million customers per annum by 2024, creating some 10,000 new positions for pilots, cabin crew and engineers, as we continue to grow tourism, routes and jobs across Europe."
The 737-800 is the best-selling version of the highly successful Next-Generation 737 family, the most reliable and technologically advanced airplanes in the single-aisle market. Ryanair operates the largest all-Boeing fleet in Europe with more than 300 737-800s in service and is the biggest customer for the airplane type, ordering more than 530 throughout its history. The Dublin based airline is also the launch customer for the newest member of the 737 MAX family of airplanes, the 737 MAX 200, finalizing an order for 100 airplanes last year, with options for 100 more.

Boeing, Silk Way West Announce Order for Three 747-8 Freighters

Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Azerbaijan-based Silk Way West today announced an order for three 747-8 Freighter airplanes valued at more than $1.1 billion at current list prices.  
"Silk Way Airlines' success and profitability as a cargo operator is a direct result of investing in its fleet and services and growing its regional and international footprint," said Zaur Akhundov, president, Silk Way Group of Companies. "I am confident we will maintain our rate of growth, supported by three new Boeing 747-8 Freighters."

Silk Way West is an enterprise of the Silk Way Group, which includes 23 companies working in the aviation industry and related services. The airline currently operates seven Boeing airplanes, including two 767-300 Freighters, three 747-400 Freighters and two 747-8 Freighters.
Compared one on one, the 747-8 Freighter has no competitors. The 747-8 Freighter provides cargo operators the lowest operating costs and best economics of any large freighter airplane while providing enhanced environmental performance. The 747-8 Freighter offers 16 percent more revenue cargo volume than the 747-400, while keeping its iconic nose door.
With 56 747-8 Freighters in service with eight customers, the 747-8 Freighters have logged more than 500,000 flight hours and more than 88,000 flight cycles. They are performing with the highest dispatch reliability and utilization of any four-engine airplane in service.

Boeing, Transavia Announce Order for Up to 20 Next-Generation 737-800s

Order for 17 737s with options for three additional airplanes

SEATTLE, Feb. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE:BA] and Transavia Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Air France KLM Group, today announced an order for 17 Next-Generation 737-800s, including options for three additional airplanes. The order, valued at $1.6 billion at current list prices, was previously booked and attributed to an unidentified customer on the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website.
The order will significantly support the growth of Transavia's operations from France and the Netherlands. The airline currently has a combined all-Boeing fleet of 45 Next-Generation 737s.

Boeing, Korean Air Announce Order for Five 777 Freighters

Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Korean Air today finalized an order for five 777 Freighters. The order, valued at more than $1.5 billion at current list prices, will add further efficiency and reliability to Korean Air's all-Boeing freighter fleet.
As one of the world's largest cargo airlines, Korean Air currently operates an all-Boeing freighter fleet of 26 airplanes that includes 17 747-400 Freighters, five 747-8 Freighters and four 777 Freighters.

Korea's flag carrier currently operates 86 Boeing passenger airplanes and has unfilled orders for nearly 40 additional airplanes, including 12 777-300ERs, 10 747-8 Intercontinentals, 10 787-9 Dreamliners, two 747-8 Freighters and six 777 Freighters.
The 777 Freighter is the world's longest range twin-engine freighter, capable of flying 4,900 nautical miles (9,070 kilometers) with a full payload at general cargo market densities. The airplane's range capability translates into significant savings for cargo operators: fewer stops and associated landing fees, less congestion at transfer hubs, lower cargo handling costs and shorter cargo delivery times.
According to the Boeing World Air Cargo Forecast, global air freight traffic is forecast to grow at an annual rate of 4.7 percent, doubling the cargo traffic over the next 20 years.

FAA Newws & Updates: FAA Grants ND UAS Test Site Broader Air Access

February 11- The Federal Aviation Administration has authorized unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) to fly in a wide area of North Dakota, a move that will give industry more  opportunities for research that could help the agency integrate UAS into the nation’s airspace. Two Certificates of Waiver or Authorization (COAs) awarded to the Northern Plains UAS Test Site greatly expand the airspace available for research flights to most of northeastern North Dakota. The FAA soon expects to approve two more COAs that will make such missions possible in about two-thirds of the state. The FAA has approved five different types of small UAS (under 55 lbs.) to fly in the Northern Plains test site.. The latest FAA authorizations will allow the site to add additional UAS to the existing airspace through a prearranged process with the FAA. Boeing Opens Propulsion Systems Facility in South Carolina

Boeing (NYSE: BA) today celebrated the opening of its new propulsion engineering and assembly facility in North Charleston.
The team of engineers, manufacturing and support personnel at Propulsion South Carolina (PSC) are responsible for the design and assembly of the 737 MAX engine nacelle inlet, the design of the 737 MAX engine nacelle fan cowl and the design and engineering integration for the 777X nacelle. PSC employees have worked in other Boeing South Carolina facilities while the new building was under construction.
Propulsion South Carolina was established in May 2013 to build capability and capacity in integrated propulsion system design and assembly to support growth and enhance the performance of future airplanes. Boeing has relied on its supply chain to perform the majority of propulsion system design and assembly during the last 10 to 15 years, but is strategically bringing some of that work in-house.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO Ray Conner was joined at the grand opening event by Governor Nikki Haley and other elected officials, community representatives and Boeing employees.
"The new propulsion center demonstrates our confidence in the Boeing South Carolina workforce and Boeing's commitment to the state," Conner said. "Our investment in both South Carolina and Washington state will help enable Boeing to be a preferred provider to customers and capture future airplane market demand by delivering competitive and high-performing products such as the 737 MAX and 777X."
The 225,000 square foot (20,903 square meters) facility will include state-of-the-art automated manufacturing equipment to efficiently assemble the 737 MAX engine nacelle inlets when production begins later this year.

United Reports January 2015 Operational Performance

United Airlines (UAL) today reported January 2015 operational results.
UAL's January 2015 consolidated traffic (revenue passenger miles) increased 1.1 percent and consolidated capacity (available seat miles) increased 1.4 percent versus January 2014. UAL's January 2015 consolidated load factor decreased 0.2 points compared to January 2014.

Boeing, LATAM Airlines Group Celebrate Delivery of Airline's First 787-9 Dreamliner

First Latin American operator of the 787 becomes the first Latin American operator of both the 787-8 and 787-Boeing (NYSE:BA) and LATAM Airlines Group celebrated the delivery of the airline's first 787-9 Dreamliner. LATAM Airlines Group is leasing the new airplane from Amsterdam-based lessor AerCap.

LATAM Airlines Group will become Latin America's first operator of both the 787-8 and 787-9 variants of the Dreamliner family when the airline group launches 787-9 services on South American routes in April.
With this delivery, LATAM Airlines Group will have 11 787s in its fleet, the most in Latin America. The company is building a fleet of 32 787 Dreamliners, including 10 787-9s, over the next several years.
The 787-9 complements and extends the 787 family. With the fuselage stretched by 20 feet (6 meters) over the 787-8, the 787-9 will fly up to 40 more passengers an additional 450 nautical miles (830 kilometers) with the same exceptional environmental performance – 20 percent less fuel use and 20 percent fewer emissions than the airplanes it replaces.
The 787-9 leverages the visionary design of the 787-8, offering passenger-pleasing features such as large windows, large stow bins, modern LED lighting, higher humidity, a lower cabin altitude, cleaner air and a smoother ride.
Fifty-eight customers from around the world have ordered more than 1,070 787s, with more than 200 airplanes delivered.

Boeing, DLA Exercise $223 Million Combat Logistics Support Agreement

Total five-year contract value reaches $516 millionBoeing [NYSE: BA] and the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) signed the second phase of a performance-based contract that reduces combat logistics support costs while enhancing warfighter readiness.

Under terms of the contract Boeing will provide support for 11 different aircraft including the F/A-18 Super Hornet; AH-64 Apache; AV-8B Harrier; B-52 Stratofortress; C-17 Globemaster III and associated ground support equipment. Work will be administered from St. Louis.
"Warfighters executing their missions rely on their systems being ready when they need them," said Julie Praiss, Boeing vice president, Tactical Aircraft & Weapons Support. "In addition, our customers have said they need greater value in their logistics support. Providing improved performance at lower cost is what Boeing is all about."
The contract, worth $223 million, is the second of two awards under a five-year agreement signed in Sept. 2014. The total contract value is $516 million. DLA has a follow-on option for an additional five years.
This long-term partnership resulted from a 2012 DLA industry challenge to reduce costs by 20 percent and improve overall supply performance. Boeing and the DLA continue collaborating on new ways to streamline processes, enhance performance and improve affordability.

Boeing, Ethiopian Airlines, Vital Voices Global Partnership Join Together for Humanitarian Flight

EVERETT, Wash., Feb. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) joined with Ethiopian Airlines and three separate non-profit organizations to deliver more than 4,000 pounds (1,814 kilograms) of medical supplies and equipment for charities and hospitals in Ethiopia and Somalia. The deliveries, carried on the ferry flight of Ethiopian's newest 787 Dreamliner, were made to a number of medical institutions via Vital Voices Global Partnership, Horn of Africa Neonatal Development Services (HANDS) and Seattle Alliance Outreach (SAO).
"Ethiopian Airlines continues to be a leader in corporate social responsibility activities in Ethiopia. With this delivery flight, we are also very happy to facilitate the supply of much needed medical supplies in neighboring Somalia as well," said Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde GebreMariam. "As the flag carrier for the country of Ethiopia, we are viewed as not only an airline but also as a source of vital service for the people of Ethiopia. The shipment includes an autoclave to sterilize surgery equipment which will be used by a new kidney dialysis center in Ethiopia, as well as neonatal medical equipment for Jimma University,College of Public Health & Health Sciences which is dedicated to saving infant lives. Vital Voices Global Partnership will send medications, computers and medical equipment valued at approximately $68,000 onwards from Addis Ababa to the Dr. Hawa Abdi Foundation in Somalia, a charity that provides basic needs through the access to healthcare.

Ethiopian Airlines is the first African operator of the 787, taking delivery of 10. Ethiopian Airlines currently operates an all-Boeing fleet of 737, 757, 767, 777, and 787 airplanes in passenger service, and has 757, MD11, 777 and a 737-400F airplane in cargo operations.

Boeing Delivers Scoot's First 787 Dreamliner

787 key to airline's fleet expansion plans, enhanced passenger experience

Boeing (NYSE:BA) and Scoot Pte Ltd. today announced the delivery of the Singapore-based airline's first 787 Dreamliner. The airplane will play a key role in the low-cost carrier's strategic plan to expand its long-haul fleet.

The 787 is a family of technologically advanced, super-efficient airplanes with new passenger-pleasing features. In addition to bringing big-jet ranges to midsize airplanes, the 787 will provide Scoot with unrivaled fuel efficiency and environmental performance, using 20 percent less fuel and with 20 percent fewer emissions than the airplanes it replaces.

Customers traveling on Scoot's new 787 will experience the passenger-pleasing features of the Dreamliner such as larger, electronically dimmable windows and larger overhead luggage bins. The lower cabin altitude, higher humidity levels, advanced air filtration and smoother-ride technology, help make the flying experience more comfortable and allow passengers to arrive at their destination more refreshed.
The airline will take delivery of an additional 19 787 Dreamliners. The airplanes were originally ordered by parent company Singapore Airlines, which included ten 787-9 and ten 787-8s.
